In this workshop we will work with cultivated willow and wild willow bark to create beautiful and functional trays. Learning the traditional techniques of frame style willow basketry, we will create gathering trays and Catalan tension trays. We will then move onto more organic leaf shaped trays from wild willows and incorporate some willow bark into our projects. We will discuss gathering your own materials, and how to process willow for use in basketry. All materials are grown and harvested at Willowbrook Basket Farm in New York State. Participants can be expected to make 2-3 different style trays as per their choice and skill level. No prior experience is necessary.
