Come learn the maritime art of scrimshaw from start to finish. Explore the origins of the craft and its context within American history, then learn to engrave into a bone-handled pocket knife or pendant of your own design. Techniques will include preparing the surface for etching, developing a design to fit the space, engraving lines with a scribe, and sealing the finished surface. This class is suitable for the complete beginner or beyond. No artistic experience is necessary and all supplies will be provided.
Workshops run from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day
Lunch is included for all participants
