Come delve into the origins and evolution of Nuno Felting, tracing its roots and cultural significance. In the first session, Oksana will guide you through demonstration, unraveling the step-by-step process of creating a basic Nuno Felting sample. In the second session she will combine wool fibers to create textured and visually stunning felted stone. Experience the beauty, history, and hands-on joy of Nuno Felting in this dynamic virtual demonstration, where artistic expression seamlessly intertwines with cultural heritage and the wonders of nature.

This demonstration will be conducted live on Zoom. Participants will receive an email from Peters Valley at least 48 hours prior that includes a link and a password. Only registered participants will be admitted.

Workshop Levels

Definitions of Skill Levels for Workshops

  • Beginner and Beyond: Introductory level course that presents basic knowledge of tools, materials and techniques and is geared towards first timers or those who want to improve and expand their technique. It takes time to build skills.
  • Advanced Beginner and Beyond: Instruction that assumes some familiarity with tools, materials and equipment. Includes reviews and builds on basic skill sets, allows for those with more experience to work at their own pace. Further development of fundamentals, participants have had at least one class or equivalent with professional instruction.
  • Intermediate: Course content that assumes a working knowledge of basic studio tools, materials and equipment necessary to accomplish the projects and techniques to be explored. Participants feel comfortable in the studio setting.
  • Intermediate to Advanced: Course content that requires a proficient working knowledge of studio tools, materials and equipment necessary to accomplish the projects and techniques to be explored in class.
  • Advanced: Assumes proficiency and advanced working knowledge of materials and studio tools and equipment so that the focus is on artistic narrative and/or technical development.

Oksana Danziger

Oksana is a natural-born creator with a passion for textile art. She was born in Moscow, Russia where she received a classical art education from the Moscow School of Art. In 1991, she moved to New York City and has since been working as a freelance textile artist for numerous studios – including Portfolio, Design Works International and Group Four. Her clients include GAP, Tommy Bahamas and Ann Taylor. Currently, Oksana lives on Long Island with her family. She teaches at the Suffolk County Art Museum and conducts workshops in schools through the Huntington Arts Council. She taught in the surface design department at The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) as an adjunct professor in 2016. She exhibits her work at the Art League of Long Island,Long Island Craft Guild.
