Expect to learn many techniques that are not taught nearly anywhere else, where rules are broken in careful ways to achieve novel and exciting shapes and designs.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Derek Weidman

Derek Weidman, a full time sculptor, was born in 1982 and lives in rural Pennsylvania close to Philadelphia. He has spent nearly two decades working with wood and a decade almost exclusively exploring the sculptural capabilities of a wood lathe. He is known primarily for innovating and pushing the boundaries of multi-axis work, expressed in his Animal series which reside in some public collections and museums, and many private collections around the world. In the woodturning field, he is the consummate rule breaker.
