6:00pm to 7:00pm EST

Buckthorn Yellow Lake is a vibrant, opaque yellow for water-based media including watercolors and gouache, as well as crayons and pastels. This pigment is made from common buckthorn berries (Rhamnus cathartica), which can be purchased or easily foraged in areas where the plant is invasive – most of the northeast US! Join Natalie Stopka in a live online demonstration of processing plant to pigment, with insights into the chemistry and history of buckthorn yellow. Just like artisans of old, we will learn to draw on the natural resources surrounding us to fabricate brilliant, beguiling color. Q+A will follow Natalie’s presentation.

This demonstration will be conducted live on Zoom. Participants will receive an email from Peters Valley at least 48 hours prior that includes a link and a password. Only registered participants will be admitted.
