Marc Maiorana learned blacksmithing from his father and earned a BFA in Metalsmithing from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He was a Penland resident artist and has taught at Peters Valley, Yestermorrow, Haystack, and Penland. He is the recipient of a Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Professional Fellowship and his work has been featured in American Craft, Metalsmith, Food and Wine, and the New York Times. Marc’s work is in the permanent collection of the Peabody Essex Museum, Metal Museum, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery. His production wares have been shipped to clients in 22 countries.  He has been a full time maker since 2002.
