Jess Thompson

Jess Thompson is the CoDirector of Cider Creek Collective ceramics community in Albion, CA, with her husband, woodfire potter Nick Schwartz, and two young children, Archer and Phoenix. She has a BFA in painting from Penn State and an MFA in ceramics from Alfred University. Jess grew up with four generations of industrial china factory workers in the Rust Belt of Northeastern OH and Western PA, and moved to Northern CA in her 20’s to apprentice as a production potter. There she fell in love with organic agriculture, homesteading, and environmentalism, and has devoted her life to cultivating healthy community living through clay, artmaking, and close relationships to the land.
