The round bottle, alluring, beautiful, and full of life, is a wonderful form providing for an array of decorating methods. However, the bottle, or vase, is often the most challenging to throw on the potter’s wheel. Jon will share a number of throwing techniques through demonstrations. With a little heat, knowledge, and practice, we will take the stress out of creating this gravity defying form. While making, we will discuss how glazes interact with this unique shape. During day two we will delve into trimming and combining parts to make a larger, more voluptuous bottle. Intermediate knowledge of throwing required.
