Spoon Carving

Explore the techniques of shaping wood through spoon carving. We will begin by learning how to mark and plan spoons in preparation for cutting. We will then use the bandsaw to create 3-dimensional curved shapes, focusing on safety and curve cutting techniques. You will then be introduced to a variety of hand tools such as spokeshaves, carving gouges, files, and rasps to achieve a spoon shape of your original design. After shaping we will discuss sanding and finishing techniques that will be applied to each spoon. Everyone will leave with a finished piece to be proud of! Beginner and Beyond
