Join us for an inspiring lecture by book artist Leslie A. Grossman for her talk: “Leaping Off the Page.” This will be a show-and-tell of different book forms. Leslie will share her knowledge, interests, and experience with bookmaking as both craft and concept. She will be showing a wide variety of handmade books in real time while discussing the many forms a book can take. This talk will leave you wanting to open a book to study its framework, question your definition of a book, and maybe even start creating your own books!
Leslie was born and raised in Midwest America. She received her Printmaking BFA from Western Michigan University in 2008 and her MFA in Printmaking from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2012. Since 2005, Leslie has been a curator and director of various galleries. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally and her prints and books can be found in multiple university and private collections. Currently Leslie lives and makes art in Philadelphia and Lansdowne, PA where she is Administrative Coordinator of Crane Arts and curator of the Crane Arts Tenant Gallery. Her book/paper-peddling name is “Parhelion Works” and she has two cats who are slowly making her crazy.
