October 15-16
This weekend intensive is a great way to introduce you to printing on textiles or maybe ignite old interests. We will focus on two ancient processes that remain today, stencil silkscreening and blockprinting. Starting right away by carving your own blocks using a soft carve material, we’ll chat about the process and a bit of the history. The remainder of the first day will be spent blockprinting your own textiles and will end by cutting a stencil design that will be the focus for day two. The weekend will be full of printing patterns and exploring colors by measuring repeats and layering tones. Come with your pattern ideas and plenty of fabric. If you are a dyer, get those fabrics ready beforehand! There’s nothing wrong with adding colors to color. Everyone will not only leave with their printed fabrics, but their hand carved blocks and stencil silkscreens to continue printing on their own. Beginner and Beyond
