Lake pigments are made from natural dyes, and are a wonderful way to use up every drop of color by stabilizing and preserving it. In this online workshop, participants will follow along as Natalie extracts dye from natural sources and transmutes it into lake pigments. Following recipes inspired by 14th-19th century artisans, we’ll concoct vibrant colors connected to history, alchemy, and the landscapes around us. In our second session, we’ll share an overview of natural artists materials including ink, watercolor, and pastels, giving participants the skills to fold our homemade pigments into their studio practice. A materials kit will be shipped to registrants.(Please note we will not be able to ship internationally so we will refund the materials fee and share the list so you can purchase on your own.)
