Virtual Workshop with Yoav Liberman
Saturday, March 12 ~ 10:00am to 12:00pm EST
Saturday, March 26 ~ 10:00am to 12:00pm EST
This hands-on whittling class will give you the basic tools to carve three-dimensional shapes. Our projects will be realized with a carving knife (and a set of small rasps). We will practice sharpening techniques to give our knife the proper edge to cut wood. We will learn and be trained in the common carving procedures, knife handling, and cutting techniques to safely form animals out of Basswood. In addition, Yoav will demonstrate the use of a bandsaw as a tool to assist in the preparation of wood for carving. If time permits we will also discuss design ideas for those who intend to extend their carving horizon beyond the available educational and commercial carving patterns. A materials kit consisting of basswood blanks will be mailed. A list containing carving knife and sharpening tool options you will need to purchase prior to the workshop will be emailed upon registration.
