Cochineal ink is a brilliantly colored writing and drawing medium connected to an ancient lineage of craft. Made from the cochineal insect who feeds exclusively on prickly pear cactus, it’s a precious and brilliant natural hue. Natalie Stopka will demonstrate how to create your own ink, with recipes for three different shades. She’ll also discuss the ways in which this color has shaped artisans and empires for hundreds of years. Q+A will follow the discussion.
This demonstration will be conducted live on Zoom. Participants will receive an email from Peters Valley at least 48 hours prior that includes a link and a password. Only registered participants will be admitted.
