May 30 – June 1, 2008  (3 days): Sculpting the Natural Way
Instructor: Judith de Zanger Tuition: $325
Level: Beginner to Advanced Lab Fee: $40
Sculpting the Natural Way with Judith de Zanger May 30 – June 1

“It’s not what you do to the stone, it is what the stone does to you” (Thoreau)

Learn to create small sculptures using alabaster, wonderstone or steatite stones.

When you sculpt the “natural way” you are listening both to yourself and to the stone.

You will become one with it, collaborating with the stone and letting it guide you.

The process is one of allowing a form to emerge, rather than forcing one on to the stone.

Sculpting the natural way is about listening to your intuition and connecting with the stone so that your efforts are a natural, “effortless action”.

You will have a chance to work with more than one stone and may end up combining stone with wood.

This workshop is for beginners as well as those who have experience but would like the freedom to work in an intuitive, meditative way.
