Rick has been a  Department Head at Peters Valley since 1998, prior to which he was an Artist in Residence/Program Coordinator (also at Peters Valley) since 1991.

He has been the recipient of both a National Endowment/Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Visual Arts Fellowship in 1989-1990 as well as a New Jersey State Council for the Arts Crafts Fellowship, which he recieved in 1982, 1990 and 1993. R

ick is currently  an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Art at Montclair State University.

Artist Statement:

"My work deals with personal visions/dreams that embody the spirits of a forgotten past or a unknown future. Fusing and patination implies the presence of time and creates a dialogue between human construction and natural decay. My intent is to evoke a emotional response to the work; that is familiar, and at the same time alien, of indeterminate age.

I work in jewelry; as well as sculptural and functional metal work, but my real interest is making things that have several, if not many different uses."
