Peters Valley Craft Center is a nationally recognized non-profit center for fine craftsmanship in Layton, New Jersey.
We invite everyone to visit us for our annual Open House and Bevans Day celebration on Sunday May 1, 2011 from Noon to 5pm at the campus in Layton, NJ.
STUDIOS & CRAFT DEMONSTRATIONS
You will be able to tour the Peters Valley studios: Blacksmithing, Ceramics, Fiber, Photography, Woodworking, Fine Metals, and Special Topics where live demonstrations will be held throughout the afternoon.
Craft demonstrations help the novice learn about craft, while experienced craftspeople feel right at home. There will be craft demonstrations throughout the valley all afternoon.
A free bus ride to the Thunder Mountain studios, where additional demonstrations will be held, is a fun way to tour our extended campus.
STORE & GALLERY
Unique contemporary crafts will be on sale at the Peters Valley Store and the Sally D. Francisco Gallery will present an exhibition with artists on hand to answer questions about their work during the Open House.
KIDS
Hands-on children’s art activities will delight young visitors.
CRAFT EXHIBITORS
Local artists will be participating in our outdoor, on campus craft fair.
HISTORICAL EXHIBITS
Expert local historians will present a display of memorabilia, early images of the hamlet and photos of the people who lived in Bevans prior to 1970 when the Craft Center began. Bevans was the name of the small village here. The historic village community spirit lives on...within the people and buildings, among the tall trees and grassy fields...you can imagine how inspiring it is to take a workshop class here!
The buildings became studios and dorms, and the church is a lecture hall (you might want to check out the interesting cemetery at the Bevans church!)
LIVE MUSIC

GREAT FOOD
Grab a gourmet bite to eat from terrific food vendors (2010 included George’s Wine and Spirits, Jimmy’s Crack Corn Kettlecorn and Sparta Dairy).

Peters Valley holds center stage distributing maps, Course Selection brochures, information and other literature to this well-attended event. You can also register for your summer workshops!
